Inside and Out

The first look offers a promise of power and agility.  Every design element flows together.  The pictures tells the story best.  And while every surface of the 2010 Taurus has been boldly sculpted, take special notice of these striking accents:

Driver-Focused Technology

2010 Taurus provides sophisticated, innovative technology for real-world use.  Features designed to increase functionality and anticipate drivers' needs-keeping them informed, connected, comfortable, and entertained.

Adaptive Cruise Control-  Allows the driver to set a vehicle cruising speed and uses radar technology to monitor traffic ahead and maintain a safe following distance.  The system has
3 gap settings to choose from- Sporty, Normal, and Comfort.

Collision Warning with Brake Support-  An active safety
feature and part of the adaptive cruise control system. 
Collision warning uses radar technology to monitor traffic
ahead and alerts the driver with a visual "heads up" display on the windshield and an audible tone which also mutes the stereo.  Brake Support initiates a 3-phase response that utilizes the Brake Assist system help the driver stop quickly. 

BLIS (Blind Spot Information System) w/ Cross Traffic Alert-
Warns drivers of vehicles approaching their "blind zone" by illuminating an indicator light on the exterior mirrors.  BLIS functions while driving and alerts drivers to vehicles entering their "blind zone".  Cross Traffic Alert operates while the vehicle is in reverse and warns the driver of approaching vehicles when slowly backing out of a parking space. 

Multi-contour Front Seats with Active Motion- Designed to
help reduce driver fatigue in the legs and lower back be
changing the contour of the seatback and seat bottom.  Air chambers in the seatback and seat bottom inflate and deflate in a random pattern for additional comfort.

MyKey- Allows owners to increase the safety of at-risk drivers.  Gives you the ability to restrict maximum radio volume, restrict vehicle top speed, set an earlier low-fuel warning, set speed
alert chimes at 45,55,or 65 mph, and restricts the disabling of safety features.

SYNC- Now includes traffic, directions, and information functionality.  The latest version of SYNC provides access to turn-by-turn directions, personalized traffic reports, and business research.  All accessed by voice commands.

Intelligent Access with Push Button Start- Eliminates fumbling for your keys.  Allows you to enter Taurus with one touch and start the vehicle without ever getting the key out of your pocket or purse.

Automatic High Beam Headlamps- Detect vehicle light sources in front of the vehicle and activate high beams when no automotive headlamps or taillamps are detected.  When lights are sensed, the system returns to low beams. 

Rain Sensing Windshield Wipers- Automatically operate at the appropriate speed when sensors mounted behind the rearview mirror detect moisture on the windshield.

Balanced Performance

The 2010 Taurus eats up the road with a sure-footed chassis, stops authoritatively with the large 4-wheel disc brakes and gets the heart started with a 263 horsepower Duratec 3.5L V6 mated with a 6-speed automatic transmission.

Duratec 3.5L DOHC V6 Engine- Combines durability and efficiency to deliver 263 hp and 249 lb-ft of torque and is mated to a 6-speed SelectShift automatic transmission.

3.5L EcoBoost V6- A twin-turbocharged gasoline
direct-injection engine delivering a V8 busting 365 hp and 350
lb-ft of torque- with the fuel economy of a V6.  EcoBoost is the 1st twin-turbocharged gasoline direct-injection V6 in North America.  It delivers an additional 102 hp over the 3.5L Duratec and more than 100 hp per liter.

Direct injection is a key technology behind the performance capability and fuel efficiency of the EcoBoost.  Fuel is directly injected into the combustion chamber of each cylinder by solenoid high-pressure injectors as opposed to regular injection where fuel is mixed with air prior to entering the chamber.

All-New 6-Speed SelectShift Automatic Transmission- Allows the driver the choice of operating the transmission in a clutchless Manual Mode with racing inspired steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters.
